Meet Dan Collins, Owner of Skyline Barbers
I’m Dan Collins, owner of Skyline Barbers in Temecula, California. My journey into the barbering and cosmetology world wasn’t a straight line—it was born out of creativity, hard work, and a deep desire to serve others. Back in high school, I started cutting my own hair while also discovering a love for photography. My dream at the time was to pursue a career as a high-fashion photographer. I even started photographing weddings, all while commuting two hours to work and trying to make ends meet. Life wasn’t easy—I was broke and stretched thin—but I knew I wanted to combine creativity with a career that gave me stability.
In 1993, I had an idea: if I wanted to truly succeed in photography and fashion, I needed to understand hair. That idea led me to cosmetology school, which I completed in 1995. By 1996, I was fully licensed and busy—photographing over 50 weddings in a year and styling the hair of 22 brides I photographed. I quickly discovered that my love for cutting and styling hair was just as strong as my passion for photography.
That passion became the foundation for Skyline Barbers. When I opened the shop, I brought my photography background with me—you’ll see my photography displayed on the walls as part of the atmosphere. But more importantly, I brought my Christian faith into the business. From day one, my goal was to create a family-friendly, faith-oriented space where clients could feel at home. You’ll often hear Christian music in the background, and it’s not unusual for meaningful conversations about faith and life to happen right here in the barber’s chair.
